Dr. Shimi Kang is a Harvard-trained medical doctor, researcher, and expert on the science of human motivation. Dr. Kang offers the tools people of all ages need to succeed in our ever-changing competitive world. She is the Medical Director of Child and Youth Mental Health for the City of Vancouver and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Kang is the author of The Self-Motivated Kid and The Dolphin Parent: A Guide to Raising Healthy, Happy, and Motivated Kids and developed the research, curriculum, and concepts which serves as the basis for the Dolphin PODTM centre.
Her articles have been continuously featured in major print media including the Huffington Post, Psychology Today and TIME Magazine.
Dr. Kang has made promoting youth innovation, leadership and wellness a priority. She is a Global Presence Ambassador – a humanitarian organization that works to promote life skills for youth around the world. Dr. Kang was honored to receive the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her years of outstanding community service.
In over 15 years of clinical practice as a medical doctor, she has helped thousands of children, adolescents, and adults move toward positive change, better health, and optimal living.
